RAeS Scholarships. Once again, the RAeS has generously made a number of flying scholarships available for young glider pilots. There are a few changes this year – the eligible age range has widened and now includes all pilots up to 25; both pre- and post-solo pilots can apply; and the size of the scholarships has increased to £300 each. The bands are well established and club members Merv Bull, Steve Crozier and Dave Mason play in them, they play a wide selection of sometimes recognisable hits (only joking!!!) and will make for a great night out. The venue is the the British Sugar Sports and Social Club in Spalding (West Marsh Road PE11 2BB) and doors open at 7.30 pm. We, they need the support from you the club members to make this a success - tickets are £6, there's a bar so there is no excuse, is there??? So why not get a ticket, they are on sale at the club and come along and enjoy a great social evening for your benefit. I myself have started adding members to my facebook friends, and being, dare I say it, Social. I just wondered if it would be any use, I am sure it would help promote the club and best of all members can easily add each other. Another thing is that we can link from our homepage and encourage any trial lessons takers to join; this would mean something it would appear in all their friends feeds. eg “John Smith has become a fan of Peterborough and Spalding Gliding Club..”. I have no problem in myself setting up and ‘moderating’ the group, it’s not going to be any water off my back.
We can then get members of other clubs to join and keep in touch with what’s happening at PSGC, the only way currently is if they log-on to our forums or website, at least in their facebook as soon as they log-on its sort of sat there in their face, so they don’t have to hunt around for it. E.g. posts like “PSGSC- Flying Week 1st February” etc.
But what are the rest of the club and committee’s view?
